Latest Trip

Every time we visit a beach we learn more about all of the amazing things available to visitors and we will try to keep you up to date and informed. We recently visited Nokomis Beach and instead of stopping at the first parking lot that you will see as you cross over the draw bridge we decided to head South and further down Casey Key. About half a mile from Nokomis Beach is the North Jetty Fish Camp. This area offers more parking, great fishing, plenty of picnic tables nestled under the shade of large beautiful trees and each is equiped with a BBQ grill. There is a Life Guard tower on the beach at this location and the shelling is awesome! The sand here is a little less fine than the sand just up the beach at Nokomis but it's definately worth spending a day in this location.

Our trip to this beach took us up I-75 then East on Laurel Road. As we headed down Laurel Road we were looking for something other than a fast food pit stop but there really wasn't a whole lot that caught our eye on the way to the beach. As it often does hunger struck before we hit the beach but by the time we all decided that we wanted to eat we had already arrived at the Nokomis Beach parking lot. Out of total desperation I took a chance and headed out of Nokomis and made a right on South Casey Road. As luck would have it, we ended up at the North Jetty Fish Camp and stumbled upon a snack bar at this location that served very fresh food with a menu diverse enough to suit almost any palette! I recommend the Fish or Chicken soft tacos!
